Upon reflecting on traditions, one is often impressed by the emphasis of the Western on collegiality, family, and friendship in the setting of education, innovation, and clinical excellence. Insightfully, our organization’s founders believed that its values—the basis of our surgical community—are what make our annual gatherings unique. Over the years, the community of the Western has become a major component in my development. Thus, it is truly an honor to serve as your President this year. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your commitment to the Association and to encourage you to continue to participate in its many initiatives. More
